New Paths on Old Grounds
User and Brand Experience
For TechnoCampus Berlin, we’re developing a highly functional wayfinding system – accessible, built on a signature design language, and tailored to visitors’ needs.
Built in the 1920s, the former Siemens works office building is the heart of TechnoCampus. In recent years, the site has added two major new buildings, a range of restaurants and cafés, and extensive green and park areas. To help visitors navigate more than 63,000 square meters with ease, we are developing a comprehensive, accessible wayfinding system for both outdoor and indoor spaces.
Using personas, we gain a deep understanding of user groups and their needs and expectations. That lets us tune information depth and hierarchy for suppliers, customers, and visitors. Building on this, we map movement patterns, create a location matrix, develop a nomenclature, and design a campus-specific visual language. Pylons, signs, and digital touchpoints all speak one coherent system drawn from the site’s architecture and Siemens heritage. The touchscreen interface keeps visitors supplied with the right information – from directions to restaurant menus and events – and the TechnoCampus team can update content with ease.
The design language, color palette, material choices, and iconography derived from the typeface reflect the site’s heritage, from the gatehouse to the parking areas to the office doors. Our user-centric design meets the highest aesthetic standards while satisfying every structural requirement, delivering a bold, forward-looking, brand-defining system.
